RECAP: 10/28@4pm - "The Air We Breathe"

On October 28, we had an exciting and informative (and interactive!) discussion with  BU professor and former Mason-Rice parent Dr. Diana Ceballos, PhD, MS, CIH  about the air we breathe everyday:  Dr. Ceballos spoke about the various different types of air pollutants and common sources of these pollutants, and reminded students of the centrality in good indoor air to good health. She also led an engaging experiment via Zoom to measure the effect of simple stovetop cooking on indoor air contaminant levels, and the importance and effectiveness of ventilation. Thank you Dr. Ceballos!

10/8 and 10/9 - Webster Woods Scavenger Hunt!

Thanks to all of the students and families who came out last Thursday and Friday to join us for a fantastic scavenger hunt in Webster Woods!  We lucked out with the gorgeous weather, and could hardly ask for a more relaxing and bucolic afternoon. BIG thanks to Barbara and Kate for taking the lead!

9/30 Green Team Launch Meeting!

Thank you to all of you who participated in our launch meeting!  On September 30, we welcomed twelve students from Mason-Rice (and one from Zervas!) on Zoom to meet each other and to talk about the things we would be doing this year in the Green Team:   We talked about some of the topics they were interested in exploring during the year, including  animals (this was a popular one!), water and trash. We talked a bit about climate activism and topics that we cared about, and made signs that we could put up in our own houses or on windows for passersby to read.  To close out, we learned a bit about the woolly bear caterpillar (look out for those, they are commonly sighted in the fall!) and closed out with some fun trivia (see below - see if you know the answers!) Here is the full presentation for those who would like to see it! 9/30 Green Team Presentation
